Technical Specialist Project Manager

We are looking for a Technical Specialist Project Manager to join our client based Project Management team. As part of an existing team and reporting to our Technical Team Lead you will be providing advice, technical and operational support on a secondment basis for one of the company’s leading retail customers. The role covers a wide range of IT disciplines such as switched Lan infrastructure, wireless solutions, structured cabling IP CCTV & access control systems. The post holder must be flexible in approach with a drive to see the customers’ requirements are not just met but exceeded and able to assist the customers own Project Management team in ensuring that established processes and systems are maintained whilst providing support for the consistently improving and new services that are being delivered.
For the right candidate, we are offering a very competitive package:
  • Salary - £30,000 – £45,000 pa depending on experience
  • Holiday – 20 days rising to 25 days in line with term of service

Job Overview

General
  • Create / design, specify and document infrastructure changes to support new and existing IT network, wireless and IP Security projects.
  • Be the point of contact, give advice and direction and be the centre of excellence for the design, management and installation of IT infrastructure including switched hardware, Wireless Infrastructure, IP Security Systems, data wiring and support on Electrical Installations via our approved 3rd party contractors.
IT Infrastructure & Solutions
  • Manage the implementation of the stores Data wiring, IT infrastructure including switched hardware, Wireless Infrastructure, IP Security design and Infrastructure for IT systems in Stores and other locations.
  • Manage the supply base for the provision of Network Solutions, IP Security Installation, and Data Wiring Installation for all IT solutions deployed.
  • Understand and give direction on the installation of IP voice solutions
  • Understand and give direction on the installation of IP security systems into stores.
  • Engage with new suppliers for type approval of new technologies in to existing and new store
Electrical (base knowledge and understanding)
  • Manage the implementation of the electrical Infrastructure via our approved 3rd party contractor base supporting our cabling for IP Security and IT systems in Stores and other locations.
  • Manage the supply base for the provision of IP Security system and electrical Installations for IT.

What Do You Have to Achieve

General
  • Maintain and proactively manage the performance and capacity of approved Specialist Contractors
  • Provide the specific technical skills required to maintain the stores technical infrastructure.
  • Provide and manage the specific technical skills to work on projects that introduce new infrastructure requirements or expand the existing infrastructure
  • Manage the resources; budget and people required to provide IT solutions and electrical services
  • Build and maintain relationships across the supplier’s manufacturers and the IT Group
  • Liaise and influence with all levels of internal staff and external approved contractors in order to provide costs, support and resource applicable to our projects.
IT Infrastructure & Solutions
  • Maintain and proactively manage the performance and capacity of Data Design companies and Specialist Infrastructure Contractors and solution providers.
  • Liaise and influence with all levels of internal staff and external approved contractors in order to get support and resource.
What Is the Scope of the Job?
Deliver and support the above in to;
  • All UK, Irish Stores with a limited number of Western European stores, so a flexible approach to working hours is required as there will be daily travel with occasional overnight stays. A full and current driving licence and valid passport are essential to deliver this role.
  • Expansion of our customers stores and brand into other areas and territories.

What Technical Knowledge Do You Need

  • Wide ranging experience across, Lan solutions, data wiring, IP security and electrical installations.
  • Knowledge of security systems market.
  • A broad commercial perspective and an understanding of the overall project cycle and how it contributes to the overall plan and through to delivery
  • Strong experience of delivering quality implementations
  • Ability to think logically, analyse situations, problem solve
